Federal Government Shutdown – DSS Program Update

What you will find on this page:

As the federal government prepares for a potential shutdown, the Department of Social Services is monitoring developments closely. DSS currently anticipates having sufficient Medicaid funding to maintain normal operations through the first quarter of FY26. However, while we expect no immediate impact to October benefits and operations, including SNAP, many of our federally funded programs may be affected if the shutdown continues beyond a few weeks.

At this time, we are relying on limited federal carryforward funding from FY 25 to continue fully federally funded operations in the start of FY 26. Without new federal appropriations, there could be disruptions to benefit payments, program administration, and provider contracts later in the fall.

We remain committed to keeping clients, partners, and staff informed and will share additional updates as more information becomes available.
